To Be Seen

The eye is staring at you and everything surrounding you, which allows it to be omniscient.
I see the dark, black pupil of an eye. I notice the colorful, intricate iris of an eye. I spot the vast, pure white of an eye. There is, what seems to be, an eye in the middle of this artwork that Michael Bellon specifically created with his idea of a superior, knowledgeable deity. He uses the creation of the expanding eye to develop the audiences’ outlook on the enlarging world. Some people believe that the world is centered around one “All-Knowing,” “All-Seeing,” God, which is shown in Bellon’s artwork, as the eye, which he places in the middle, surrounded by the other aspects of the painting. In this picture, the Eye is the most important. The white part of the Eye draws the audience towards it. The eye in the middle is all-knowing of the surrounding aspects of the painting, just as some people believe there is one God that can see everything. But, the eye is not the only significant aspect of this work of art. Bellon overlaps the triangles in various colors. The various colors of red, blue, yellow, green, pink, purple, gray and different combinations of those colors, symbolize people and their differences. Their differences are linked together by the mixture of overlapping. The mixture of overlapping is seen by the eye in the center. Perhaps the best way to explain Bellon’s message of the “all-knowing eye,” is the correlation between the title, The World, the eye as the center, and the different sizes and colors of the triangles. ALTHOUGH THE WORLD IS IMMENSE IN MAGNITUDE, EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE IS CONNECTED BY AN “ALL-KNOWING” GOD.
